Bezienswaardigheid
This is a legendary site at Dallekulle, south of Torpa in Ljungby, Småland. The site lies in a forested area and is reached via paths and minor roads, close to the Sunnerboturen cycling route.
The story tells of a farm woman who began to suspect that something was wrong with her child. The child cried constantly, ate unusually much, and did not grow as other children did.
She believed that trolls had taken her real child and left a changeling in its place. To reveal the truth, she sat by the cradle and began churning butter in a thimble – something completely unreasonable.
At that moment, the child reacted and revealed itself by speaking. It was not an ordinary child. Soon after, the trolls returned and exchanged it for her real child.
The story reflects beliefs about children, illness, and the supernatural in everyday life.
The site is part of the Land of Legends in Småland (Ljungby, Alvesta and Älmhult), a connected storytelling landscape recognized by UNESCO.
The Museum of Legends in Ljungby gathers stories from across the area and helps visitors understand how legends like this were connected to everyday life and real places.
The site lies in forest surroundings and is accessible by footpath, making it suitable for short visits. Near bike trail Sunnerboturen
