Bjärntjärnliden

Bjärntjärnliden presents life in the ancient forest.

The spruce forest here is covered with lichen. Some of the trees have died and fallen over. Wood-inhabiting fungi such as the crust fungus with its gnarled skin cover the dead logs. The cry of the black woodpecker can be heard as it flies overhead, on the lookout for carpenter ants. The little one-flowered wintergreen peeks up out of the moss. This is life in ancient forests such as the one in Bjärntjärnliden.
