Degerforsheden

The reserve is one of very few naturally forested areas along the coast of Västerbotten. It is situated just 6 km from the sea and Kinnbäcksfjärden.

As a result, Degerforsheden is an important haven for many virgin forest-dwelling plants and animals. These include birds such as the hazel grouse, the capercaillie, the wood sandpiper, the black woodpecker, the three-toed woodpecker and the black grouse.

In a number of places, the pine forest contains several generations of pines that have sprouted after various forest fires. These generations are approximately 120, 200 and up around 300 years old.
