Mien runt

This suggested cycle tour goes around Lake Mien. The environment is alternating cultivated landscape and woodland. Lake Mien is deep and offers sometimes cold but at the same time clear bathing water. Along the route there are two official bathing places.

Road description
Preferably start at Midingsbråte bathing place. The tour follows the way around the mythical lake Mien. According to legends a meteor has crashed here and given the lake its characteristic, almost perfectly round shape and great depth, around 43 m north of the island Ramsö. The island is a nature reserve and you can find a rare type of rock: rhyolite. Around the lake you will find diverse nature and environment. Open landscapes and big, beautiful houses in the South and forests and smaller cottages in the North. Don ́t miss the chance to visit Älgriket, a moose park where you can meet the king of the forest and his smaller relatives in their natural habitat. Chairs and tables are situated close to the animals as well as down by the lake, so don ́t forget to bring picnic. But respect that it is a facility and that entry is required to the area. Follow the sign to Urshult. After about 4 km follow the sign towards Bastaremåla. After about 4 km, in Bastaremåla, follow the "Sverigeleden" south. In Laxasand you can take a bath in the lake. Follow the road back to Midingsbråte and the bathing place. The tour is mostly on smaller asphalt road and some shorter parts on gravel road.
